Susan Minot's work has been compared to that of David Leavitt. Like Minot, Leavitt came of age as a writer in the 1980's. Leavitt's work also focuses on issues such as divorce, familial dysfunction, and homosexuality. Readers may also be interested in reading Brett Easton Ellis' Less Than Zero, and American Psycho. While Ellis' style is different from Minot's work, his stories do touch on many of the same social concerns.
