Good Times tell of a fond memory in which rent has been paid and the insurance man is gone. Prosperity and financial stability has been returned to the speaker's life. Signs of prosperity include lights, bread, and alcohol. The speaker also mentions the well-being of both her grandfather and uncle. At the end of the poem, the speaker says, "Oh children think about the/Good times", insinuating that, while the family may encounter more hardships, they have good times to look back on if and when they reach these difficult periods.
