Jacklight (1984) and Baptism of Desire (1989) are books of poetry (along with a few folktales) which present vivid North Dakota vignettes, as well as personal reflections on Louise Erdrich’s relationships to her husband and children. Her memoir of her daughter’s birth, The Blue Jay’s Dance: A Birth Year, was published in 1995.
