The best place for even the littluns to find food was in the forest. There was plenty of fruit to be picked. In chapter 3 Simon takes the littluns into the forest and helps them to reach the fruit that is way up high and out of their reach. Even the laziest kids could get to some of the fruit. However, Simon is reaching the choicest fruit in this chapter. He does this because he is considered the Christ symbol in the book. He could have just helped himself, but he chose to reach the best, choicest fruit and kept handing them down to the never ending outstretched hands. (Just as Jesus feeding of the thousands)
