Posted by cmcqueeney on Tuesday October 30, 2007 at 9:27 AMThe raging of nature through the thunderstorm matches the raging and chaos of the boys in this chapter. The boys are becoming more animalistic, more like beasts in nature rather than humans. Also, the storm echoes the split between Ralph and Jack. Instead of staying loyal to Ralph, the boys follow their stomachs, like animals, and turn to Jack. Finally, the fury of the storm matches the boys actions at the end of the chapter, when in a chanting tirade, they mistake Simon for the beast and brutally kill him.
