In chapter 4 of "Lord of The Flies," Jack begins his real change by painting his face in a native way.  He uses charcoal to paint his face black, and also adds red and leaves some white.  His followers do the same.  Ralph goes to check on the fire and finds that it has gone out.  Jack and the hunter's return shouting "Kill the pig, Cut his throat."  Ralph yells at them but Jack doesn't understand the problem.  He tells Ralph that they have killed a pig and that he "cut its throat himself."   The boys are beside themselves with excitement because they trapped, tortured, and killed the pig and now they will have meat.
