Posted by engtchr5 on Friday April 3, 2009 at 8:34 AMThe language used in this novel often relects the tone or mood of the scene which it describes. In scenes of violence or barbarism, sentences are short, terse, and sometimes choppy to reflect the brutality of the situation.
In scenes that are dramatic, where Golding wants the reader to take more time and pay closer attention, the sentences and language are more fluid, but also more extensive.
Golding's word choice very much reflects the conflict and turmoil within the story itself. Through his diction, we see the true nature of all the things that transpire within the plot.
