In Chapter 7 Simon confuses Berengaria And Eleanor of Castile. What is the significance of this?

In Chapter 7, Simon said "... and you ought to suck it like Berengaria" When in fact it was actually Eleanor of Castile that sucked on her husband's wound to save his life while risking her own.

This is a stretch, but bear with me.  Looking at both Eleanor, and at Berengaria, there aren't many common factors to them. But if you look at their marriages, the bonds some how seem to correspond to personalities of Jack and Ralph.

First, Berengaria was married to king Richard I of England. He was said by most historians to be a homosexual. This meanning that his relationship with Berengaria was not one of romantic feeling. You could be so bold as to say that Berengaria 'sucked it up,' and took the humiliation of being wed to a homosexual king, just so she could use the title. Jack's willingness to do anything for power could somehow be related to Berengaria's situation. Another theory for the confusion, although not very relevent at all, could be that Berengaria 'sucked it' literally. Since it is said that Richard did have a claim of sodomy. This theory, however, does not have any relation to the boys on the island, because homosexuality and oral sex does not come up.

Secondly, Eleanor of Castile was married to Edward I of England. Their relationship was said to be one of devotion, and genuine love. Legend has said that she sucked the poison from Edward's arm out of pure love, and willingness to do anything to have him survive. Her actions also portray a resemblance of Ralph's view on keeping himself, and the other boys on the island alive.
