Posted by cmcqueeney on Thursday November 1, 2007 at 10:01 AMDuring their first meeting, a littlun begins to cry and says he saw a beastie thing that he thought wanted to eat him. He thought it was a huge snake. Ralph at first tries to reason saying there would be no way for a large snake to be on an island - they only exist in Africa and India. Then, as others continue talking about the beast, Ralph just begins screaming over and over, louder and louder, "there is no beast!" Jack on the other hand, tries to agree with Ralph saying their is no giant beast-snake, but he adds 'if there is we will hunt it'. This is the beginning of Jack's obsession with hunting live things.
