Can you give me a few hints about how I might approach writing a biopoem on "Lord of the Flies"? Here is what I am supposed to do.

You probably need to write the poem based on a character from the novel. Ralph, Piggy, Simon, or Jack might be good characters to choose since there's a lot of material to work with concerning them - we get to know them more than the others. Line 1 would just be the first name of the character you chose (I'm not sure what you'll do for line 10 since I don't believe we're provided with anyone's last name except for Jack's, which is Merridew). Then, for the second line, you would write a list of four traits that describe the character (for example, one trait that could be used to describe Piggy would be "intellectual"). Proceed with lines 3 through 8 in the same way: just think about how that particular character would respond to each of the list items. Line 9 might be the island itself, or England, depending on how you think the character would answer - do they view themselves still as a citizen of England, or only a resident of the island now? Good luck! Have fun with this - it's a creative assignment that will allow you to demonstrate your knowledge of characterization! Posted by eabettencourt on Oct 21, 2008. |
