Longinus (Cyclopedia of World Authors)
Longinus (lahn-JI-nuhs) wrote in Greek, had a broad knowledge of literature, nursed an antipathy to conventional rhetoric-oriented modes of criticism, and addressed his essay On the Sublime to a Roman citizen named Postumius Terentianus.
