The Little Prince Group

Topic: The Little Prince is not a book for children. I have given it to many intellegent children, but they have not understood it. Am I right?

In my opinion it is not easy even for adults to grasp it well and comprehensively. I am also wondering what really makes the book so famous in the world.

I agree. Sometimes it seems that if a book includes drawings, especially like those in The Little Prince, it is assumed that the audience should be children.  But The Little Prince has far too many complicated allusions and characters for children to understand it. The language is deceptively simple, as well, though I'm not sure if that is true of the original French. Perhaps someone who understands French better than I do could comment on that.

The other side of this is that The Little Prince *can* be read by children and understood on the level of a fairy tale, but the depth of it is lost on someone younger than a teenager. Heck, I'm still finding new things in this book!
