    There are many songs that use figurative language extensively. One classic rock song I'm fond if is "Light My Fire," which was sung by The Doors. I think this song works well for me, and for many listeners, because the images are clear— a man asking a woman to "light his fire" is really asking for something pretty specific, and pretty sexual—and yet surprising at times. How many popular songs mention things like "No time to wallow in the mire"? That's very vivid, and quite original…and the song is full of figurative twists like that.
