A very good introduction is that linked to the UK site www.teachit.co.uk. The web address is http://www.teachit.co.uk/armoore/lang/semantics.htm. It begins with definitions of semantics, and there are then sections on symbol and referent, connotation, denotation, ambiguity, pragmatics, implication, polysemy, semantic fields, synonym, antonym and hyponym, epistemology, and so on. It is aimed chiefly at English Language A-level courses, but is also 'of general interest to language students on degree courses' - so hopefully this includes you! Another site that you may find useful is www.englishbiz.co.uk. You need the sections on A-level English Language. If you put 'semantics' into the search field on the site you get a number of hits, including a very handy glossary of terms, and useful guides to stylistic analysis.
