This topic is a quite general, so I'm not sure what you exactly are proposing, but the link I am including below offers criticism from a wide range of eras and topics. It includes facts about the author as well as varied opinions about his or her works. http://www.enotes.com/guides/criticism/about

Literary criticism is critical reading & evaluation of a work of literature. It has a long & varied history from the ancient Classical times of Plato, Aristotle, Horace & Longinus to the very recent times of Barthes & Derrida. There are so many different schools of literary crticism examining a work of literature from a wide variety of approaches/angles/perspectives/premises, e.g. the Historical School, the Biographical School, the Psychological/Psychoanalytical School, New Criticism, New Historicism, Structuralism, Post-Structuralism, Deconstructionism & so on. From the very olden times, reading & assessment of literature-- its content & its form, its relation to society & politics, a work of literature in relation to the life of its author etc.--have been considered a valuable task; sometimes the task is so challenging that a piece of literary criticism is looked upon as no less creative & original a work than the original literary work itself. An ideal critic is an ideal reader & his/her analyses, observations, commentaries contribute to a better understanding of a work of literature. Literary criticism shall have to be free of bias/tendentiousness, intellectually sound, the critic functioning as a conscientious intermediary between the writer & the readers.. HOPE YOU CAN NOW SEE THE NATURE & SCOPE OF LITERARY CRITICISM..... Posted by kc4u on Apr 14, 2009. |
