Start there, sfcamille:

I've never been in love.

Now, you can go lots of ways with that kind of start. You can talk about friends you know who had first-love infatuations and how they may have turned out. Or you can talk about the love you had for a pet. Or the love you had for a bike (like Pee Wee in "Pee Wee's Big Adventure") or the love of some other object.

Or you could talk about love and infatuation from a fresh perspective. You could say that the whole love/infatuation thing is just selfish silliness... that it's nothing more than losing one's self in someone else when you could be doing much more important and productive things.
