what do you think how indians are?

This question is too general for a short discussion limited to 4500 characters. Also you need to clarify which Indians - American Indians or Asian Indians.

Not only is the question too general, but if you could rephrase it to make it more specific, I would have a better idea as to how I can help you with it.

Indeed your question suffers from lack of focus. Do you want to know about the Indians living in India, or about the Indian communities living abroad--in America, Europe, or Africa, or, for that matter, the Indians living in other countries in Asia? Furthermore, what exactly do you want to know about them? About their Politics? Religion? Culture? Changes in their Social/Family lives? Come back with a better directed question, and we will be happy to share our views.

As for Indians living in India, I can understand that the country would have "growing pains" after having cast off British colonial rule not such a long time ago, and with the social institution of the caste system of Hinduism, the country obviously has some social and political problems.

But, that withstanding, India offers vast natural resources and the people have an enlightened sense of being, from the six times I have been there. They also have enormous cultrual gifts to offer other cultures.

Talking about cast system is a popular way of describing India. This way you don't have to go into details, and as it is a widely held belief, the chances of someone questioning it are limited. But I don't think it is something that is unique to India. For example, If you were to to compare the relative position of so called upper and lower caste people in India, you will find the difference between them is much less than, say differences in USA between persons of European origin and American Indians. Cast system was definitely a serious problem in India prior to its independence but this problem was never as bad as the problem of slaves in USA. Further, currently this problem is much less severe than what it used to be. For example there are no organizations like Ku-Klux-Klan in India.

India is different, very different from many other countries, but that it is not necessarily good or bad. Some of the differences between India and Western countries which I find very apparent include the following.

1. Family ties in India are stronger. It is quite common to see families of more than one brother living together as one common family.
2. Indian people are enterprising. That is why you may find Indian businessmen settled and doing business in so many countries.
3. Indian people seem to prefer living physically closer as compared to western countries. Thus typically a farmer in India will not build his house within the boundary of his field, but in a separate locality in the village where all houses are close to each other.
4. Indians like music and dance of every kind. They are quick to appreciate good music and dance of any kind. I am talking of the popular music and dance as can be found in Indian Movies, and not the classical variety. Some critics accuse Indian films for copying music and dances from other countries, but I it also displays their ability and willingness to accept new things.
5. Indian food has a a very wide choice to offer. It is often cooked using very elaborate recipes and methods.
6. Rituals, and traditions important to Indians, but only in some specific areas related with religions and religious festivals. For example, they have no problem in adopting new methods and practices in their work and professional life.
7. A large number of vegetarians. They will not any kind of flesh or eggs. But milk and honey is acceptable.
8. Yes, India has some social and political problems, but somehow it also has some kind of innate ability to continue get on with the life, and also develop, in spite of problems. The political stability of India, as compared to other developing, has been one of its greatest strengths.
9. Indians do not like too strict discipline. This is one of the reason, the government cannot impose discipline in small matters like cleanliness in public places and traffic. But then people do have a greater feeling of freedom in India.
