Posted by renelane on Sunday October 21, 2007 at 12:27 PMThe hyena represents Pi's descent into savagery. At first, he sees the hyena as a savior because it keeps Parker from killing him or the zebra. Yet, very soon it rips the leg off of the zebra and attacks it repeatedly with great viciousness.
