The answer is almost certainly that in reality, the animals were never rescued. The story about sharing the lifeboat with an assortment of animals was a fantasy that Pi indulged in to preserve his sanity after going through a horrible experience. As he admitted to the Japanese investigators at the very end of the book, he had actually shared the lifeboat with other human beings, including his own mother, and had witnessed ghastly scenes of...

Well, from what I figure is that the "blind frenchman" is actually Pi's brother Ravi. I noticed Pi says Brother in nearly every second sentence, and though could be seen figurtavly, could be seen as a unconcious parralell to his eating of Ravi. As for Pi being blind. . . scientificly it is a sound assumption to say one would go blind due to lack of nutrients, but Pi and F.M (french man) seem far too agile and percise to be blind, in my...

A traditional "Quest" story involves a hero who must overcome challenges in order to achieve a goal or treasure. Think of Odysseus from "The Odyssey". He is a heroic leader who must overcome a series of obstacles in order to get home.
In this story, Pi fits the characteristics of a hero, even though he is only 16. He is intelligent and mature beyond his years, as shown by his studies in religion and in science. He speaks insightfully...

Indeed, just as Pi revels in the unexpected bliss of having inadvertently located a member of his own species who can relate with...
