In many ways Life of Pi is an allegory of the search for spiritual identity, faith, and even the meaning of life. Pi has always been an inquisitive boy. As a child living in Pondicharry India, he followed three different faiths (Christianity, Islam, Hinduism) in an attempt to discover the nature of man. While stranded on his little boat, Pi asks many of the questions that most of us take a lifetime to ask or perhaps never even do. Is there a god? Why can he be so unjust? What's up with the randomness of life and nature? Why am I here? The questions go on and the answers may lie hidden within the context of human nature. Pi merely poses them and together with his animal friends allows us to ponder the enormity of it all with a truly unique individual. Posted by tthakkar on Oct 8, 2007. |

Pi or π is one of the most important mathematical constants, approximately equal to 3.14159. It represents the ratio of any circle's circumference to its diameter in Euclidean geometry, which is the same as the ratio of a circle's area to the square of its radius. Many formulas from mathematics, science, and engineering involve π. Posted by angus-trout on Apr 22, 2008. |
