If asked to describe the main characters in My Life In Dog Years,  would you include all of the dogs along with Gary Paulsen or just Gary himself?

    I would include the dogs along with Paulsen as main characters.  As he tells his story, the dog becomes a main character and evolves as other characters would in a story.  He tells of their pain, their sadness, and their ability to make him laugh and cry.
