After all, isn't lack of justice the reason that Jefferson ends up on death row? Because of his race, he is given a severe punishment even though most of the white jury more than likely is fully aware of his innocence. He was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, and did not actually commit murder during the robbery. For lack of better words, he was just unfortunate enough to get caught.
The novel speaks to the lack of justice several times, but perhaps more than anything else, it is clear through the false imprisonment and condemnation of Jefferson early on in the novel.
So, if you need to write the question, try it like this:
How is justice a prominent theme throughout the novel A Lesson Before Dying?
