Les Miserables has been adapted for film, television, and stage numerous times. Among the better adaptations are a 1935 film starring Fredric March, Charles Laughton, Cedric Hardwicke, Rochelle Hudson, and John Beal. Directed by Richard Boleslawski, this adaptation is detailed and faithful to the novel, except for a changed ending.
