Can a Grandmother get a paternity test done?

MY SON SENT LETTER TO COURT IN NY. AND THEY DISMISSED

IT SAYING THE MOTHER HAD A FATHER'S NAME ON BIRTH CER.

BUT SHE CALLS AND ALWAYS SAYING IT IS MY SONS AND SHE

WANTS MONEY. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW, I ALREADY HAVE  7

KIDS AND IF SHE IS MINE I WILL LOVE IT, I ALREADY LOVE HER. I NEED TO KNOW

    The state of New York has jurisdiction over this matter, and perhaps an attorney who is licensed to practice law in New York will respond.  In the meantime, to give you a general response, I am fairly certain that only your son has standing to ask for a DNA test.  Grandparents have very limited rights to go to court over their grandchildren or alleged grandchildren. If the child's paternity is established through a court action by your son, he will be able to file for some custody, partial custody, or visitation rights, along with obligating himself for child support, and then you would have an opportunity to see this new grandchild.  In the meantime, it would probably be a bad idea for you to offer any support for this child, and neither you nor your son has any entitlement to time with the child.
