In a Narrow Grave (1968) is a collection of nine essays Larry McMurtry wrote for various periodicals, mostly concerning Texas. He collaborated on the script for the 1971 motion-picture adaptation of his novel The Last Picture Show and wrote other scripts. In 1975-1976 he wrote monthly articles for American Film magazine, some of which were collected in Film Flam: Essays on Hollywood (1987). Crazy Horse (1999) was McMurtry’s first foray into biography.
