The limited third person narration works well for this story. It gives the story the tone of distance and detachment, which is perfect for revealing Gurov's own personality. The third person narration is not completely omniscient, as we are not privy to Anna's thoughts and ideas until the end. Instead, we are given Gurov's perceptions of what Anna must be thinking or feeling. It is only at the end that we are given both characters  feelings.
