I suppose the answer would depend on how much you really loved the young man. True love means self-sacrifice and if marriage to another woman meant saving one's true love, then I would hope she would choose the lady. But, it's important to note the Frank Stockton, leaves the story with a simple black or white ending. If the daughter had allowed the young man to choose the door with the tiger, he would surely be dead. However, if he chose the door with the woman, the young man would be alive and able to choose other options. He could choose not to marry the woman behind the door, or he could choose to run away with the princess, and I'm sure there are other options he could have chosen. So, I think I would allow the young man to live. At least he would be alive to live another day and a lot can happen in a day.
