This question is difficult to answer in a true or false way.  Yes, Mrs. Weylin always foregave Rufus and spoiled him.  Yes, Dana forgave him most of the time, but at the end she did not forgive him.  She killed him.  Mrs. Weylin gave into Rufus because he was her son and during that era nothing was more honored by a southern woman than to have given her husband a male offspring.  Dana gave into Rufus and went back to him time after time because if she didn't she would never have been born.  Her ancestor's came from his raping Alice.  Dana had to make sure that no harm came to Rufus because until her grandmother was born, Rufus had to live.

So both women supported Rufus, but for two very different reasons, and in the end, Dana not only didn't forgive him, she killed him.
