Arrested several times as an adolescent for rebelling against a conformist society, Ross Murdock has found acceptance and companionship in the community of Time Agents, and has grown especially close to his older partner, Gordon Ashe. When he is plunged thousands of years into the past and separated from Gordon, Ross has a very difficult time adjusting to his friend's absence.
