In  Act 5 of "Julius Caesar," why does Cassius claim his conversation with the consipators would not have ocurred except for...? 

My choices are: 

A. Brutus had agreed with Cassius to murder Antony.

D. Brutus had fought without first engaging in conversation.

    The correct answer is A (Brutus had agreed with Cassius to murder Antony). 

    If you review the text in Act III Scene 1 you will find discussion amongst Cassius, Brutus, and Mark Antony in which Antony wishes to honor the dead Caesar by presenting his body and speaking in his honor.  Cassius tells Brutus that he does not think it will be a good idea and that it can only bring trouble.  Brutus ignores Cassisus' warning and gives Antony permission to speak as long as he does not speak of their guilt.  Antony agrees, but instead causes a vengeful uproar among the citizens.  So, Cassius is basically telling Brutus I told you so.
