    Not knowing what specific qualities you have decided to compare, here is a general suggestion for your thesis:

    While all four of the Chinese mothers in The Joy Luck Club share the same goal of nurturing contented, independent daughters, their methods in accomplishing those goals and the backgrounds which they bring into their relationships with their daughters differ immensely.
