    John Steinbeck was the only son in a family of three sisters.  He was the third child or John II and Olive Steinbeck.   His sisters' names are: Elizabeth Steinbeck Ainsworth, Esther Steinbeck Rodgers, and Mary Steinbeck Dekker, all of whom are deceased.
