Marc Antony has the distinction of being a leading character in two of Shakespeare's Roman plays, the relatively early Julius Caesar and the mature Antony and Cleopatra written a decade later. It is also a mature Antony who romances Cleopatra, his Roman nobility being coupled with her Egyptian charms.
