    This story primarily takes place on an island off the coast of Maryland.  The body of water the island is in is called Chesepeake Bay; the name of the island is Rass Island.  The story takes place in the 1930s.

    In addition to Rass Island, there is some action that takes place at the University of Maryland and in a town in West Virginia.
