The last line, "I wonder as I wander", is from a Christmas ballad credited to John Jacob Niles.  The ballad quietly puts forth the question about how Jesus could have come to earth to die for us when he was a King and could have done anything he wanted.  I think the attitude behind this "wondering" is a metaphor for the course Louise's life will take at the end of the book.  Although she is a grown woman with a family of her own, she will never cease to seek answers to the greater questions in life.  As she "wanders", or journeys, through the rest of her life, she will always search and "wonder" and grow - in understanding of herself and other people, relationships, and the mysteries of human existence.
