I am not talking about Chris 'Alex Supertramp' McCandless, I am talking about today, what would it take for you to sell all your things and move into the wilderness. I am doing a research paper on the romanticism with the wilderness. Input valuable!

I think that the desire to discover one's own sense of true identity away from the clamoring of society might be a rationale to leave it all behind and seek a more primal form of life.  The Romantics strongly believed that truth in any and all forms- personal, historic, psychological- can only be revealed when individuals leave the trappings of society and seek a life that is more authentic.  This might serve as an allure of the life away from the conventional notion of the good.
