What do you think McCandless' major complaint of society is?

I believe that McCandless would believe that we, as a society, are not really free; we care far too much about things that do not really matter.  McCandless seems to have had no problem parting with people or possessions that he did not consider to be directly beneficial to himself or his goals.  Overall, McCandless seems to have been searching for whatever really mattered.  He made the conscious decision(s) to separate himself from anything (or anyone) that would have presented itself as a possible obstacle or shackle.  Unfortunately, he may have been so intent on freeing himself that he separated himself from those who truly cared about him.
