I don't think he was searching for any answer to any problems. I think if you asked Chris, he would tell you he was living a rather carefree life. I think he was searching for the ultimate experience, the ultimate closeness with nature, the ultimate task to overcome. If by problems you mean the issues with his family, no, i don't think that was 'solved' by 'running away'. I cannot account for why Chris does not contact his family while on the road and why he shut them out of his life. While Chris considered them a problem, I think he was pretty selfish for his actions and probably, instead of dealing with it head on, chose to immerse himself in his quest rather than fixing anything. So, his journey was a good "bandaid" for his problems, but I don't think it fixed anything. Posted by charcunning on Mar 9, 2009. |
