Topic: do you beleive the stories the people in this chapter tell Krakauer are true? why?

If you are referring to the chapters in which Krakauer discusses all of the other adventurers that encountered fates similar to that of McCandless, I'd have to say yes, I do believe they are true.

I say this because Krakauer himself is one of these adventurers, one that was lucky enough to survive his walk into the wild.

As an author (and in a way, biographer), Krakauer has clearly researched the McCandless case, and I believe that he would have done the same in finding those with parallel experiences to McCandless. Of course, as any author, I'm sure he has taken a bit of creative liberty with the events and his ideas about what the men were thinking during their escapades, but for the most part, I think that the stories are factually correct and based on actual experiences.
