The three main characters of Interview with the Vampire, Louis, Lestat, and Claudia, are primarily plot facilitators. There is a certain flaccidity of character development in the book. Most of the time Louis seems sensitive, introverted, almost tender, but when necessary, he can also appear cold, savage, or indifferent. Likewise Lestat, cynical and barbarous, can also act in a well educated and thoughtful manner. Claudia, the changeling monster child, has practically no personality at all.
