    The Gradwitz's always legally owned the land, but the Znaeym family had illegally laid claim to it so the von Gradwitz's launched a lawsuit that, "wrested it from the illegal possession of a neighboring family of petty landowners."The Znaeym family chose not to recognize the judge's ruling the lawsuit and so the family had been feuding over the virtually worthless strip of land for generations.
