    Yes. In the play, Henry Drummond is a famous defense attorney who is brought to Hillsboro, Tennessee, to defend Bert. His fee is paid for by Hornbeck's newspaper, the Baltimore Herald, because the trial has captured national attention. In the real trial, John Scopes' defense attorney was Clarence Darrow. The character of Henry Drummond is clearly modeled on Darrow.

    Yes Henry Drummond defended Bert Cate. He also made a fool of the procecution while he was at it.
