Wilde used his play "An Ideal Husband" to reiterate his belief that no matter who the individual is, all men and women have secrets to hide. Through the action of the play, Wilde infers that it is extremely hypocritical of readers/viewers to assert that they are better than those around them while all humans suffer the same imperfections. Due to the lighter moments of comedy in the play, the message is delivered in an indirect manner that does not at all feel "preachy," but nevertheless Wilde makes his point very clear.
