Why was Bill Clinton seen as a humanitarian?

To the extent that Bill Clinton was seen in this way when he was the president, it was because of his foreign policy. Clinton was more likely than some presidents to use American power to try to improve the humanitarian situation in various places around the world. A few examples include:
- Clinton sent troops to Haiti to try to calm and solve political unrest in that country. This eventually led to the first democratic handover of power in that country.
- Bosnia. Clinton sent troops there to try to stop the genocidal war going on there in the aftermath of the breakup of Yugoslavia. He did the same in Kosovo.
- Clinton also pushed hard for peace between Israel and the Palestinians. He managed to accomplish a great deal and might have accomplished more had Yitzhak Rabin not been assassinated.
