Why is responsibility a good value for parents to teach their children in life?

Responsibility is an important value to teach because no one can succeed in life if they are not responsible.
If students are not responsible, they will have trouble doing well in school. They will not take care to ensure that they get all of their assignments done on time. They will particularly have problems like this when they go away to college and do not have parents reminding them of what they need to do.
If people are not responsible, they may well end up in financial trouble. They may forget to pay bills when they come due. They may not think to invest and may, instead, spend freely without thinking of their futures. They may not take the time to think about what they can really afford and instead buy on impulse.
People need to be responsible so that they can be sure to do all the things that they need to do. Without responsibility, they will leave things undone and get in trouble. Therefore, this is an important value to teach children.

You can teach your child good values by modeling behaviors that include honesty, punctuality, humbleness, responsibility, and compassion. You can model good values for your child daily. Whether you realize it or not, you are your child's hero. He is watching you, and he will learn how to handle certain situations just by following your example. Keeping this in mind, pay attention to how you handle people and situations that occur on a daily basis. It can be good for a parent to hire someone else to teach their children. But that someone else should be tested and proven by the parent, not just blindly hired and approved. The parent should not endorse anyone to the child until the parent knows that teacher is compatible with the parent's values. Until you have exercised all prudence to prove the teacher is of the same mind you want your child to learn from you, then you have no right to tell your child, "Learn from this teacher." If you tell your child to learn from a teacher who feeds values contrary to scripture, then you are getting yourself into trouble. And you are leading your child down a road contrary to your own values by letting a contrary minded person be in charge of your child's training. Parents, you are responsible. It's ok to hire someone to help with training up your children, but you must prove them before telling your children to accept them. I know wonderful parents who are terribly sorry that they gave a blanket approval by sending their children to public school without a healthy awareness to filter out the poison.
