High School Teacher
Portia is distraught over her father's will because it robs her of the freedom of her own choice of husband. Her father sets up the game of having the suitor's chose a casket. In one of the caskets is a painting of Portia. Whoever chooses this one, will win her hand in marriage. The problem is that Portia is already in love with someone - Bassanio and it is unclear at first whether or not he has enough wealth to make a bid for Portia.
