The main reason for this is that it is somewhat harder to get a lot of support in an online class. Even if the teacher tries hard, it is unlikely that he or she will be able to give you as much personalized attention as would be possible in a regular class. The fact that communications have to be written make it much harder to get a lot of help from a teacher simply because written interactions are more unwieldy than spoken ones. Because it is harder to get a lot of help from the teacher, it is more important to really be ready before the class starts in an online class.
