Why is Genji so admired to the point of adulation by almost everyone he encounters in the Tale of Genji?

What is it about Him that in the eyes of his contemporaries makes him a veritable paragon of male perfection?

Here are some things which set him apart:

- physical beauty
- prowess with women
- cultivated skills in the arts
- great sympathy for humanity
- understanding of people both common and royal
