Why does Santiago want to go to Africa in The Alchemist by Coelho?
1 Answer | Add Yours
Santiago develops a desire to go to Africa after his visitation from Melchizedek who tells him about Personal Legends, the dream or calling each person has in youth but that fades with time under the influence of social constraints. From this encounter, and after being given the stones and viewing the castle while carrying oil, Santiago decides his Personal Legend includes a journey to Africa to see the pyramids.
