why does a ball bend?

I am assuming you are talking about soccer and how a soccer player can kick the ball and get it to curve in the air. The idea is fairly simple. The spinning ball deflects the air rushing by it. The air usually takes longer to move around one side than the other. Thus the air causes the ball to bend or curve. This is called the magnus force. You not only see this in soccer but volleyball and golf as well.
